Description:

East Asia, China, ca. 20th century CE. A vintage Chinese belt composed of fifteen linked plaques of nickel silver, each set with an oval cabochon stone in polished bezel settings. The stones display a variety of natural tones, including deep green, amber-brown, smoky gray, and cream, each uniquely patterned by organic inclusions. The bezels are framed with delicate beaded borders, lending a refined texture that contrasts with the smooth polish of the stones. The plaques are connected by double hinge links, allowing for flexible movement, and the belt secures with a hook clasp and an attached safety chain for added security. Such belts, often incorporating semi-precious stones, were popular mid-20th century adornments, valued for their blend of traditional Chinese craftsmanship and modern decorative appeal. Size: 26.4" L x 1.1" W (67.1 cm x 2.8 cm)
