Norman Baxter (American, XX). "Battleship Texas" ink drawing on paper, ca. 1960s to 1970s. Signed to left of large tree trunk. Titled at lower left. An ink drawing entitled "Battleship Texas" by Norman Baxter who was active in Houston, Texas during the 1960s. As demonstrated in this piece, Baxter was known for remarkable attention to detail. As a founder of Baxter and Korge, Baxter's clients included NASA and Houston Natural Gas Corporation which later became Enron. Commissioned in 1914, the Battleship Texas is the only surviving battleship used to fight in World War I and World War II, and was known for innovation in aviation, gunnery, and radar.   • Condition: Signed to left of large tree trunk. Titled at lower left. Mounted under glass in black metal frame. Artwork has not been examined outside the frame - appears with vivid imagery, normal toning to paper, a few small stains and crease marks to peripheries, and small area of abrasion at upper right. Cardstock on verso has some staining as shown. Frame is intact and fit with suspension wire.
