Canada, Inuit, ca. mid 20th century. Two mottled green soapstone carvings from the indigenous peoples of Canada. First is a seated bird, head turned slightly right, feathers on wings string cut and eyes drilled. Old "Eskimo Art" sticker on signed base. Next is a figure of a walrus, rear legs exposed and eyes lightly drilled. Size of largest (bird): 4.25" L x 3" H (10.8 cm x 7.6 cm)

Provenance: private Englewood, Colorado USA collection; ex-M. Komor Gallery, New York City, New York USA circa 1965
