Native American, Pacific Northwest Coast, southeastern Alaska, Tlingit tribe, ca. early to mid-20th century CE. A hand-carved wooden totem pole standing tall atop a rectangular base platform. Featured on the totem pole are [from bottom to top] a stylized anthropomorphic head with bared teeth, a downward-facing killer whale with a thick, curled tail, and a crouching eagle with a pointed beak, a forked crest, and a pair of outstretched wings secured to its back. Fine remains of brown pigment still accentuate this lovely example of Tlingit figural artistry! Size: 10" W x 12" H (25.4 cm x 30.5 cm); 12.75" H (32.4 cm) on included wooden base.

  • Condition: Minor nicks to eagle head, with light loosening to screws beneath base and behind wings, and fading to small areas of pigment, otherwise intact and very good. Nice remains of figural details and brown pigment throughout.
