Native American, Pacific Northwest, Dididaht, signed "Nancy Williams" in pencil on verso, late 20th century. An outstanding Thunderbird totem pole by Nancy Williams (b. 1958) who as the daughter of Ray Williams and the sister of John T. Williams, represents the premier Williams family line of famous carvers. Finely carved and meticulously painted in a brilliant color palette of red, green, blue, black, and white, Nancy Williams certainly lives up to her family's reputation. The Williams family has carved totem poles for eight generations, and their works are exhibited at the University of British Columbia, the Royal Alberta Museum, The Seattle Art Museum, as well as The White House. Size: 6.625" W x 6.625" H (16.8 cm x 16.8 cm)
