Description:

Eastern Europe, Greece, ca. 20th to early 21st century CE. An elegant brass sculpture of a charging bull boasting a minimalist form reminiscent of the Greek Geometric period. Bowing his head, the beast displays strong shoulders, a humped back, and huge, sweeping horns, all enveloped in an applied verdant green patina. His thick body tapers to narrow hips with nubbin legs as a slender tail extends from his posterior, angled slightly upwards and adding balance to the piece. A wonderful homage to the graceful simplicity of ancient Greek art! Size: 10.8" L x 2.9" W x 3.4" H (27.4 cm x 7.4 cm x 8.6 cm)

Provenance: The William F. Draper Collection, New York City, USA, acquired via descent from the late William Franklin Draper (1912-2003)
