Description:

Central Asia, India, Naga, ca. early to mid-20th century CE. An interesting ceremonial warrior hat formed from braided rattan fibers with a reinforced lower brim that is lined with textile panels. The lateral walls are ornamented with a pair of crescent-shaped boar tusks, and the front bears the top half of a monkey skull suspended above a charred wooden 'V.' The headdress is surmounted with dozens of dark-brown feathers that imbue the hat with a regal presentation. Size: 4.5" W x 10.25" H (11.4 cm x 26 cm).
