Description:

Native American, Northwest Coast, presumed to be by Ray Williams (Nootka First Nations artist) or another member of the Williams family, ca. mid 20th century CE. An attractive totem pole, hand-carved from fine-grained wood, probably cedar or alder, and depicting totemic figures including an impressive Thunderbird at the top, with separately carved outspread wings attached on the back, all atop a separately carved square cedar base. The style and technique suggest that this piece was made by Ray Williams or another member of the Williams family. Size: 9.25" W x 10.125" H (23.5 cm x 25.7 cm); 10.875" H (27.6 cm) on included custom stand.
