Oceania, Papua New Guinea, ca. 20th century CE. A hand-carved wood plate carefully incised with mesmerizing geometric motifs of rhomboid and circular designs. Enveloped in dark pigment, the vessel displays a discoid body with a raised rim. Two sets of spikes project from the sides, flanking the plate and serving as handles. Additionally, the letters "M A" have been inscribed in powder blue pigment on the underside of the dish. Size: 16.5" Diameter x 3" H (41.9 cm x 7.6 cm)
