South America, Peru or Bolivia, Aymara culture, ca. early 20th century CE. A lovely textile coca cloth comprised of tightly-woven camelid (alpaca or llama wool) fibers presenting a vertical striated pattern in hues of crimson, blue, white, red-orange, and brown. The main body consists of a central linear and striated bands bordered by solid dark blue- nearly black solid bands and a pair of white curvilinear motifs. The textile has a braided tassel on each corner and thick plaited borders on the top and bottom.
