Papua New Guinea, ca. 1st half of the 20th century. Very amusing wooden ancestor figure from the Middle Sepik River region. Tall, thin wooden figure of nude male leaning slightly to his left, hands hanging below his genitalia, he wears a feathered headdress with shell eyes and very long extended tongue. Remains of original pigmentation. Size: 17.75" H (45.1 cm)
