Description:

North America, ca. second half of the 20th century CE. Three mold-formed pottery figures that emulate Pre-Columbian figures of Western Mexico and Peru. First is a Nayarit-style figure laying against a reclinitario with both hands clasped against the head. Second is a Colima-style figure of a seated man afflicted with dozens of skin lesions. The Moche-style figure depicts a shaman/medicine man holding a small bottle and a shell horn. These figures were used by pharmaceutical companies as models showing how ancient cultures portrayed disease, medical maladies, and doctors. Size (Moche-style): 2.625" W x 4.3" H (6.7 cm x 10.9 cm); 5.1" H (13 cm) on included custom stand.
