Description:

Central Asia, Eastern Iran / Afghanistan, Bactria, ca. 3rd to 2nd millennium BCE. A striking trio of copper axe heads, each displaying a characteristic curved shape and a narrow, ovoid socket drilled with a suspension hole on each side. Two have a flared blade, while the other is squared off. As ever, central Asia was a crossroads during this time period; people here were influenced by Iran in the west and the Indus Valley civilizations like Harappa in the east; however, they had their own distinctive bronze and copper style. Size of largest: 6.4" L x 1.9" W (16.3 cm x 4.8 cm)
