Latin America, Northern Mexico, Tarahumara (Raramuri) culture, ca. mid to late 20th century CE; Native American, Western United States, Sierra Nevada region, California/Nevada, Mono/Washoe culture, ca. mid to late 20th century CE. A collection of three hand-carved pine bark Tarahumara figurines, each dressed in vibrant printed cotton floral dresses and adorned with wool hair. One figurine is seated and weaving on a simple horizontal wood loom with yarn warps, another holds a spindle with wool fibers, while the third clutches a pine bark pot. Also included is a miniature cradleboard crafted from willow rods and redbud splints, with the redbud material suggesting a California tribe, possibly Mono or Washoe. Size of loom weaver doll: 6.5" L x 6" H (16.5 cm x 15.2 cm)

  • Condition: Spindle holding doll's left arm is broken off and loose inside the dress. The vessel holding doll is missing both the legs. Abrasions and chips to the wood limbs. Cradleboard has some minor frayed splints, but intact and good condition.
