South Asia, India, Gupta Period, ca. 3rd to 5th century CE. Pottery head of a deity boasting attractive features and an incised third eye. The divine figure presents narrowed brows and huge eyes that gaze hypnotically forward from above a naturalistic nose and fleshy, full lips, all flanked by a pair of long ears and crowned by a slender headband. Size: 2.4" W x 4.2" H (6.1 cm x 10.7 cm); 5.9" H (15 cm) on included custom stand.
