Central Asia, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Northern India, Gandhara, ca. 3rd to 7th century CE. A collection of pottery molds to impress decorative features into clay vessels, votive tablets, or statues, consisting of 3 near complete molds and 2 fragments of the head of the Buddha or Boddhisatva and what may have been the creases of garments in another figural mold. The smallest mold has a sinuous shape and perhaps formed beads or jewelry. Included are modern putty impressions of the 4 larger molds. Size of largest: 5" L x 2.75" W (12.7 cm x 7 cm)
