Description:

Pre-Columbian, central coast Peru, Chancay, ca. 800 to 1200 CE. A fine gathering of four textile dolls formed from camelid (alpaca or llama wool) fibers in hues of brown, blue, beige, fuchsia, cream, marigold, and sage. Each standing figure wears brightly colored vestments across the body, has slender arms formed from thread-wrapped sticks, and features an amicable visage replete with red eyes and lips. The figures are sewn against a rectangular cushion with a colorfully patterned fringe panel. Size: 10" W x 8.5" H (25.4 cm x 21.6 cm)
