Description:

East Asia, China, Qing Dynasty, ca. 19th century CE. A charming set of four blue-on-white porcelain dishes, each hand-painted in cobalt beneath a clear glaze. The shallow basins feature traditional Chinese motifs - two with lush floral sprays of peonies and chrysanthemums, one with lotus blooms, and one with a tree - all bordered by delicate foliate patterns extending toward their gently sloped rims. Each dish displays a warm light-brown edge, known as a "dressed rim" - a hallmark of antique Chinese export wares. This brown wash was deliberately applied after glazing to strengthen the thin rim, stabilize the fragile edge, and reduce the risk of chipping. Size: 8.75" Diameter x 1" H (22.2 cm x 2.5 cm)

Provenance: ex-T.F. Holy Lands collection, formed since the 1960s
