Description:

Ancient Egypt, Neolithic to Predynastic, Naqada I to II period, ca. 7000 to 3000 BCE. A collection of 4 knapped chert (flint) blades discovered in a cave, which may have functioned as tools and ritualistic items that could have been deposited during interment. Two resemble projectile points with a "hollow" or deeply notched base, known as a Fayum (Faiyum) point for the area they are often discovered. The other two are blades, one with a large notch, and the other a slender, serrated point. Size of largest: 2.2" L x 1" W (5.6 cm x 2.5 cm)

Provenance: private Lake Helen, Florida, USA collection, by descent, collected before 2000
