Ancient Greece, Athens, Attic, ca. 4th century BCE; Ancient Near East, Holy Land, ca. late 1st millennium BCE; Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 2nd century CE. A gathering of four attractive miniature pottery vessels from across the ancient world. First are two vessels from the Holy land including a diminutive cup with a protruding handle and a footed oil container with a thick, flared rim. Next is an Attic blackware jarlet of a spherical form with a petite rim. The 'largest' is a Roman oil lamp with a short foot and a rounded wick spout. Size of largest (oil lamp): 1.9" L x 1.75" W (4.8 cm x 4.4 cm)

  • Condition: Roman oil lamp and Holy Land oil jar have chips to handles, rims, and bodies as shown; remaining two vessels are intact and very good. All pieces have minor abrasions, and all but the blackware jarlet have light encrustations. Nice earthen deposits throughout.
