Description:

Northern Europe, Scandinavia, Viking or Norse Culture, ca. 8th to 10th century CE. A lovely electrum ring, crafted from a high-purity gold and silver alloy with a gold content of 70.4% (equivalent to 17K) and over 20% silver. The surface is decorated with stamped triangular and raised pellet motifs arranged along a central raised ridge. These designs may have been either cast directly into the ring or impressed with a stamp while the metal was still soft, creating the iconic patterns commonly seen in Viking jewelry. While the exact symbolism of the triangular and stippled motifs remains uncertain, their popularity likely stemmed from their ease of creation and visually striking, intricate appearance. Size: 0.7" Diameter x 0.2" W (1.8 cm x 0.5 cm); US ring size 10; gold quality: 70.4% (equivalent to 17K); silver quality: 27.6%; weight: 6 grams
