Description:

Northern Europe, Scandinavia, Viking culture, ca. 9th to 11th century CE. A finely crafted Viking silver pendant in the form of a stylized axe head, an object that bore both practical and symbolic weight in Norse society. Forged from silver of high purity (96.4 to 97.1%), the pendant exhibits a wide, flaring blade with a looped, circular suspension ring wire-wrapped at each junction. One side is smooth and undecorated, while the reverse is incised with a triadic pattern of concentric circles connected by dotted lines, echoing solar or magical motifs found across Viking-era art. Such pendants may have signified divine protection, warrior prowess, or allegiance to Norse deities such as Thor, whose hammer shared similar iconography. This wearable relic of early medieval Scandinavia blends simplicity with profound cultural symbolism, ideal for display or as a powerful talismanic adornment. Size: 2.6" L x 1.5" W (6.6 cm x 3.8 cm); silver quality: 96.4 to 97.1%; weight: 8.3 grams
