Africa, Niger River Delta, probably Ibibio/Eket, ca. early 20th century CE. A carved wood mask presenting an abstract visage comprised of double-slit downturned eyes beneath arched brows with an inverted triangular motif carved in relief on the forehead, an upturned nose, and closed full lips. The mask is laterally perforated for wearing or attachment. Nice aged surface with lovely patina. Size: 8.5" L x 6.75" W (21.6 cm x 17.1 cm)
