Description:

Native American, Northwestern United States or Alaska, Inuit cultures, ca. 19th to mid-20th century CE. A pair of traditional Arctic tools: a long antler snow knife and a cutting or scraping tool featuring an iron ulu blade and carved antler grip. The snow knife - shaped from a single curved antler - features etched grooves near the flattened end, likely intended for wrapping with sinew or fiber to create a secure handhold. The ulu style blade is attached with iron nails and an aluminum plate to a hand-carved antler grip; its upward-pointing tine serves as an effective stop, preventing the user's hand from slipping during use. Size of iron bladed tool: 9" L x 4.25" W (22.9 cm x 10.8 cm)
