Native American, Alaska, Inuit, Aleutian, or Punuk peoples, Pre-Contact period, ca. 100 to 1000 CE. A set of two utilitarian tools carved from either whale or walrus bone. The smaller item is a fishing net sinker that has a pair of drilled attachment holes, a rounded body, and a narrow vertical ridge. The larger item is shaped distinctively like an axe head, with a tapered blade end and a thick butt with upper and lower attachment grooves. Each tool has developed fine, smooth patina across all surfaces. Size of largest (axe head): 4.7" L x 2.1" W (11.9 cm x 5.3 cm).

Provenance: private southwestern Pennsylvania, USA collection, acquired prior to 2000
