Native American, Southwestern USA, found in central eastern Arizona, Anasazi (Ancestral Puebloan), Pueblo II, ca. 980 to 1150 CE. An outstanding example of a Gallup Black-on-White ceramic pitcher with a light grey body color and dramatic fineline black and white motifs on its upper neck and lower body, each depicting stepped and linear motifs that evoke the architecture of the this time period as well as the desert landscape. This style is associated with the Pueblo II period, when people in the area traded pottery for food with wealthy settlements like Chaco Canyon. Size: 5.2" W x 5.2" H (13.2 cm x 13.2 cm)

  • Condition: Intact, with a few small chips and nicks from rim. Pigment is in great condition with light deposits over much of the surface including a nice ring on the underside where water gathered around its base. Old collection number on underside.
