Description:

Native American, Southwest corner of New Mexico along Mogollon Rim to central and southeast Arizona and southward to Chihuaua region of northern Mexico, Mogollon, Anasazi culture, ca. 1025- 1200 CE. The Mangas black-on-white (formerly Mimbres Bold Face) style is characterized by bold designs and relatively wide linework. Experts believe it is likely ancestral to Mimbres black-on-white style. This pitcher shows rich variation in its playful geometric designs. Clearly the Anasazi regarded their ceramics as far more than utilitarian wares, imbuing them with such intricate decorative programs as demonstrated in this example! 5-1/4"H x 5-1/2"W at widest point
