Description:

Native American, Southern Colorado Plateau, Ancestral Pueblo (Anasazi), Tularosa, ca. 1100 to 1250 CE. A beautiful, hand-built pottery ladle which has been well-polished, slipped, and has a pearly white surface with a finely-painted black decoration of abstract labyrinthine motifs in the bowl and on the handle. The ladle has a thick handle with a small upturned loop at one end, a large scooping bowl, and a thin rim. Made for stirring and serving food, this example was probably ultimately deposited with a deceased member of the community or left in an abandoned domestic space. Size: 3.4" W x 6.55" H (8.6 cm x 16.6 cm)
