Ancient Near East, probably Anatolia or Mesopotamia, ca. late 4th to early 3rd millennium BCE. A set of 2 hand-carved stone mace heads from the ancient near east - one with smooth surfaces, and one with a raised band of nodules around the center. Size of largest (smooth surfaces): 1.625" L x 2.2" W x 2.25" H (4.1 cm x 5.6 cm x 5.7 cm)

Provenance: East Coast collection, New York Gallery, New York City, New York, USA, acquired before 2010

  • Condition: Minor nicks and abrasions to each, with larger having a petite indentation, with softening to raised band on smaller mace head, and thick earthen deposits, otherwise intact and excellent. Great preservation to overall forms.
