Description:

China, Warring States Period, ca. 475 to 221 BCE. This is a beautiful dagger from the Warring States period, a time of great flux in Chinese society, when kingdoms and warlords traded land constantly. The shape of the handle and the patina on this piece are particularly fine. A dagger like this would have been a grave good, placed alongside the body of the glorious dead. Size: 9.8" L x 1.55" W (24.9 cm x 3.9 cm).

Provenance: Ex-Estate of John Piscopo. Mr. Piscopo was one of the largest collectors of ancient weapons in the US with a collection that spanned all cultures, all ages.

  • Condition: There is a repaired break in the middle of the blade. There is patina, but it is quite light for a piece of this age. The blade has some chipping. However, the shape is clear.
