Ancient Near East, Cyprus, late Cypriot I, ca. 1600 to 1050 BCE. A set of 2 pottery vessels called bilbils, each with a flared foot, an apple-shaped body, a curving handle, and a flared rim atop a slender neck. Vessels of this type are also known as ring base vessels and replicate the form of an opium poppy. Ceramic items manufactured in Cyprus were exported in huge numbers to Egypt and the Holy Land, and some examples of this type have been found in Egypt containing opium grown in Cyprus. Size: 2.2" L x 1.4" W x 4.6" H (5.6 cm x 3.6 cm x 11.7 cm)
