Description:

Ancient Greece, Cyprus, Late Cypriot Bronze Age, ca. 1550 to 1050 BCE. A graceful, wheel-thrown redware jug with a bulbous body, cylindrical neck, and adjacent strap handle. The highly burnished surface is a fiery red-orange hue which glints attractively in the presence of light. The strap handle is seamlessly secured to the vessel's lip and below to its tapered shoulder. The neck is lightly decorated with a burnished linear banding. Vases of this ware were massively exported to the Levant, Egypt and Anatolia and believed to have contained perfumed oil. Size: 6.75" Diameter x 9.5" H (17.1 cm x 24.1 cm)
