Lot 9B
Ancient Egypt, probably Hellenistic to Ptolemaic, ca. 332 to 30 BCE. A long strand of faience and other small Egyptian sead beads, becoming greater in size as they flow towards the centerpiece of the necklace, which is a faience amulet. This is a head-on view of an animalistic figure with two eyes and what might be fangs projecting out from beneath them. This head-on style, rather than profile, suggests that this artwork is from a relatively late part of the Egyptian period, when their artistic styles had been influenced by the Greeks and Romans. Size: 24.25" L (61.6 cm)
