Egypt, Late Period, dynasties 26 through 30, ca. 662 to 315 BCE. A finely carved wooden face mask with lentoid eyes, D-section nose and elliptical mouth; three wooden attachment pegs in situ. An attractive example of the carved original wooden face after which was added the gesso and bright paints. It is unusual to find the wood in such good condition. Size: 8.25" W x 8.25" H (21 cm x 21 cm)
