Ancient Greece, late Archaic to Classical period, ca. 6th to 4th century BCE; Roman, Republic to Imperial period, ca. 2nd century BCE to 3rd century CE. Two lovely earrings - wone made entirely from a high quality: 85.9% gold and the other a 76% to 78% gold wire with a glass bead between granulated spacer beads. The thicker earring known as boat-shaped, has a curvature body, cut from a single flat sheet of gold with a circular bezel at the front and arching wire hook. The bezel would have been inlaid with a glass or stone and must have been a stunning accessory. Size of boat earring: 0.75" Diameter x 0.375" W (1.9 cm x 1 cm); gold quality: 76.8% to 85.96% total weight: 4.4 grams
