Greece, Hellenistic period, ca. 323 to 30 BCE; Roman, Imperial period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE; Egypt, Coptic culture, ca. 11th to 12th century CE. A wonderful ensemble of 4 metal fragments, 2 from Greek Hellenistic culture, 1 from the ancient Roman Empire, and 1 from Coptic Egypt. The Greek Hellenistic pieces are comprised of a copper foil amulet reminiscent of a Hellenistic shield with a repousse outer edge and a gold wire clasp, possibly from a necklace, with a twisted motif and 4 petite baubles. Alternatively, the Roman example is a gold hoop earring with a hollow interior, and the rectangular silver repousse ornament is from Egyptian Coptic culture. Size of largest (Roman hoop earring): 1.3" Diameter x 0.2" W (3.3 cm x 0.5 cm); metal quality: clasp: 64% gold (equivalent to about 15.36 karats) / hoop: 66.5% gold (about 15.96 karats) / Coptic ornament: 53.9% silver
