Rome, ca. 1st to 4th century CE. A solid cast bronze ring of a signet form, the face showing signs of schematicized figural decoration, though difficult to decipher. Wonderful dark patina. US size 6.75 to 7; weight: 7.8 grams Size: opening measures .75" in diameter (1.9 cm); face measures .625" L x .5" W (1.6 cm x 1.3 cm)

Provenance: private Florida, USA collection acquired in the 1980s

  • Condition: Surface has aged gracefully with rich, shiny patina. Imagery on face is no longer decipherable, but incised marks from the former design remain. Divit on side probably a casting flaw.
