Description:

Pre-Columbian, Ecuador, ca. 3500 BCE - 1800 BCE. Breathtaking necklace comprised of tubular and circular/disk-shaped jadeite beads in several shades of variegated green ranging from apple to blue-green. A bird pendant with a wide wing span carved from lustrous, amber colored shell perforated with two gold inlay disks further elaborated with a spiral motif hangs from this magnificent piece of wearable art. Even more precious when one realizes that the beads and pendant were created by the Valdivian artisans of Ecuador, one of the oldest settled cultures of the ancient Americas. 24"L bead necklace without pendant; pendant is 3-3/4"T x 5"W
