North America, United States, New York, ca. 1902 to 1907 CE. This charming sterling silver vessel is made by the renowned Tiffany and Co. This lidded container has a faceted and octagonal body with a carinated edge. The neck tapers inward to a rolled rim that secures the lid in place. The lid has a flared rim and a dome shape with a ball handle surmounted on the tip. The flat base is stamped "TIFFANY & CO 12939 MAKERS 291 STERLING SILVER 925-1000 C." The C indicates this was made under the company's president Charles T. Cook (1902-1907). A simple and sophisticated vessel that was likely part of a tea service set. Size: 4" W x 4" H (10.2 cm x 10.2 cm); quality of silver: 93.47% to 94.26%; total weight: 167.6 grams
