Description:

Greece, Archaic Period, ca. 6th to 5th century BCE. A child's toy in the shape of a boar or pig, hand-sculpted. He has small indentations for eyes, suggesting that he was once painted - and you can see the remains of white pigment on the body. He also has a slightly upturned nose, rounded ears, and a curly tail. He stands on four gently splayed feet. We believe that a toy like this was made for a toddler. Size: 4.1" W x 2.45" H (10.4 cm x 6.2 cm); 3.15" H (8 cm) on included custom stand.

Provenance: private New York, USA collection; ex New York, USA doctor's collection
