Description:

Ancient Greece, Archaic Period, ca. 6th to 5th century BCE. A child's toy in the shape of a boar or pig which is hand-sculpted from pale-orange terracotta. The animal bears small indentations for eyes, suggesting that it was at one time painted in vivid pigmentation. The boar also has a slightly upturned nose, rounded ears, a prominent tuft of hair running the length of the spine, and a petite tail. Size: 3.125" L x 1.4" W x 1.7" H (7.9 cm x 3.6 cm x 4.3 cm).
