Description:

**Originally Listed At $400**

Ancient Greece, Archaic Period, ca. 6th to 5th century CE. A mold-formed terracotta head of an older female with a slender nose, recessed almond-shaped eyes with incised upper lids, full cheeks with a rounded chin, and puffy lips, all beneath a neatly-arranged coiffure. The majority of her hair is covered with a bulbous polos headdress with incised striations along the verso, and the thick, arching rim atop her head is flecked with minute impressed dots. Traces of white pigmentation are visible within the ears and around the nose and suggest this head - once part of a larger figure - was detailed with bright colors at one time. Custom lucite display stand included. Size: 3.75" W x 3.75" H (9.5 cm x 9.5 cm); 6.375" H (16.2 cm) on included custom stand.
