Milton "MAJA" Jurado (Ecuadorian, Contemporary) Skull w/ Jewels, ca. 2012. A mosaic skull covered in costume jewelry, rhinestones, shell beads, seed pods, and brass plates from vintage belts. Jurado, also known as MAJA is an Ecuadorian artist living in Los Angeles California after immigrating in the 1970s. His works often focus on his Ecuadorian heritage and Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead), which is celebrated in Ecuador as a day of remembrance, especially amongst the indigenous Quechua people. Size: 6.5" Diameter x 7.5" H (16.5 cm x 19 cm)

  • Condition: Some losses to seeds and missing a large rhinestone on the brow. Two brass plates on right side of head are slightly loss, but can easily be secured with adhesive. Overall good condition and signed by the artist.
