Hopi. b. 1958 Ca. 1980's - 1990's. Four different polychrome decorated pottery examples, including an eagle tail decorated pot, signed with an incised "B" on the base. Intact, exc. cond. Together with three different miniature examples, one decorated with butterflies, one with an eagle tail design and one with four stylized katchinas, all are signed on the base with an incised "B". All are intact, exc. cond. Bonnie Sahme Nampeyo was a notable Hopi potter, recognized for her contributions to the continuation of traditional Hopi pottery. Known for sticking closely to the styles and designs made famous by her great-grandmother, Nampeyo. Her favorite designs included eagle tails, thunderbirds, and butterflies. Bonnie Sahmie Chapella Nampeyo is a daughter of Priscilla Nampeyo and a sister of noted potters Jean Sahmie, Rachel Sahmie, and Nyla Sahmie. She began making pottery in 1975. 6-1/4"W. x 2-5/8"H. & Miniatures: 1" to 1-1/4"H. x 1-3/4" to 2-3/8"W.

Provenance: Blumberg collection, NYC. Acquired from Martha Hopkins Struever, with copy of invoice for two pots, dated 9/17/98.
