Description:

Classical World, Balkan Europe, Thrace / Dacia, ca. 4th to 1st century BCE. An elegant torq (also torc) bracelet formed from a thick bronze wire and adorned with nearly identical geometric motifs incised horizontally on each end. Consisting of 4 registers all separated by 2 horizontal rings, each end's design features the following layers (from outside inward): a band of 2 parallel lines in 3 "V" patterns side-by-side, several aligned zig-zag striations, another register identical to the first, and a lone incised zig-zag line. This heavy ornament would have served as a bracelet or arm band for an ancient Thracian and is still wearable! Size of outside: 4" in diameter (10.2 cm) Size: 3.25" in diameter (8.3 cm)
