Description:

Western/Central Europe, France or Germany, World War I era, ca. 1914 to 1918 CE. A minimalist yet brutal club employed by soldiers during trench raids. The body and handle are carved from a single hardwood tree branch with protruding nodules indicating where smaller branches once were, and the bottom is capped with a rounded pommel. Set along the head are several steel nodules that would focus the power of one's blow into an incredibly small area, perhaps enough to break armor, shatter bones, or end lives. Trench clubs like this example were used primarily during nighttime operations to keep the enemy unaware of the unit's position. Size: 13.3" L x 2.875" W (33.8 cm x 7.3 cm)
