Description:

Pre-Columbian, Mexico, Casas Grandes, Huerigos, Medio Period, ca. 1270 to 1450 CE. A lovely terracotta bowl with a round and stable base, a bulbous body, a wide mouth, and a slightly flared rim. The body displays wonderful polychrome painted designs including two large red-and-black spirals, four sections of brown linear separation sections, and two minimalist faces with circular eyes, large and red rectangular noses, and mouths with two rows of small vertical teeth. The vessel has a deep interior cavity which would have held a myriad of different substances such as herbs, grain, meat, or water. A striking and extensively decorated vessel! Size: 7" W x 5.375" H (17.8 cm x 13.7 cm).
