Description:

Pre-Columbian, Central Coast Peru, Chancay, ca. 1000 to 1470 CE. An egg-shaped bi-chrome pottery bottle with a cup-shaped spout, a short convex neck with a pair of ear-like applied forms, a large ovoid, bulbous, round-bottomed body with a pair of looped strap handles, and a skillfully painted stylized geometric program in chocolate brown on a cream ground. A breathtaking example - perfect for springtime, as the egg is a symbol of renewal. Size: 7.125" W x 9.125" H (18.1 cm x 23.2 cm)

Provenance: ex-private Clemente Revilla collection, acquired prior to 1980
