Pre-Columbian, Central Coast of Peru, Chancay, ca. 800 to 1200 CE. An egg-shaped pottery jar with a flared rim and a pair of handles arching to the shoulder. The exterior surfaces are adorned in dense black pigment that forms straight and zigzagging vertical stripes, and areas of solid black pigment adorn the sides as well as a ring around the undecorated, cream-hued base. Size: 6.62" Diameter x 9.75" H (16.8 cm x 24.8 cm)
