Pre-Columbian, Central Coast Peru, Chancay, ca. 800 to 1200 CE. A hand-carved wooden male figure standing nude atop delineated legs and holding both arms to his chest. The broad, trapezoidal head features diamond-shaped eyes adorned with white and black pigment, red ochre pigment across the cheeks and forehead, and a prominent nose beneath a zigzagging headband.
